Social Media and the Pet Industry:

Is Your Pet Business using Social Media to the Best Advantage?

When was the last time you tended to any of your social media accounts? Yesterday? Last week? Last month? Does your business even have any social media accounts?

Social media networks have made their way into our everyday lives… and no age group is immune!

It’s normal to think that social media activity by Millennials and Gen Z’ers is as natural to them as the air they breathe…

And it is!

But! …the Baby Boomer (ages 57–75) and Gen X’er (ages 41–56) age groups are not as far behind in their social media participation as you might think…

Partaking in social media has become a cultural lifestyle most age groups are engaging in, and this is where your pet care business can thrive!

If you’ve let your social media accounts slide or don’t have any at all, there is much hope for your business’ successful transition into using social media to your advantage.

There are many types of social media platforms, and your business does not have to have an account in every single one.

First, figure out which type of social media would work best for your pet industry business…

Do you like to post a lot of pictures of finished, well-groomed dogs? Maybe Instagram or Pinterest would be more to your liking…

Do you like to invite comments and engage your followers about your products or services with witty online ads? Then Facebook or Twitter could be your best choices.

Second, it’s important to know who you are speaking to.

It may seem counterintuitive, but not every person on any of the social media platforms you choose to employ is your target.

Why is social media such a necessity right now? …because nowadays, most consumers expect to have contact or customer service on a regular and timely basis.

It’s become the norm to be able to reach out to a business you’re interested in or have bought something from and expect a quick answer back to any of your concerns or questions.

And statistics don’t lie… according to Social Media Today, since 2019, engagement on Instagram has gone from 3.2 billion to 6.1 billion people per month!

That’s Billion… with a capital ‘B’!

Social Media is here to stay…

My next installment will be more information on how you can use Social Media for your Pet Industry business… Stay tuned!
